Sagittarian Super Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse

Sagittarian Super Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse May 26th 9:14pm AEST

As a lead-up to this powerful Super Lunar Eclipse, Saturn becomes stationary retrograde in Aquarius and remains retrograde until 11th October 2021.

When any planet becomes stationary to change direction the energy of its symbolism is amplified, so it is possible that we will see authorities and institutions attempting to exert greater control, more laws, rules and regulations. And during this time of Uranus in Taurus squaring Saturn in Aquarius so closely, the conflict between this controlling Saturn energy and the rebellious spirit of Uranus and Aquarius will really be tested.

The Total Lunar Eclipse is at 5°25’ Sagittarius, opens this year’s Eclipse season and is also a Super Moon which means the Moon is very close to the Earth in its orbit. Eclipses are always intense and disruptive in nature and therefore in our lives, but very often not necessarily on the day that they happen as we can notice the effects of them up to six months before and after the actual event. However, this one will be more powerful than usual, as it is total plus being a Super Moon. On top of this it is a so-called ‘blood’ Moon.

The Blood Moon astrologically signals the opportunity for an emotional reset and a deeper dive into our emotional shadows. It can also signal the beginning of a period of emotional cleansing, letting go of emotional baggage, and the start of emotional, and spiritual growth.

All in all, feelings and emotions are likely to be coming to a head, and these are likely to be around the classic Sagittarius premises of freedom, travel, the truth, the law, and natural law. This is a South Node Eclipse with the Moon being close to the South Node (the Moon must be close to the North or South Node for an Eclipse to take place), and Lunar Eclipses as big Full Moons suggest that this is very much a period of endings, as the South Node represents our collective past.

This period brings completions, and the focus on the truth of those endings, as well as the growth possible from those understandings.

Jupiter has just arrived in Pisces briefly before it retrogrades back into Aquarius at the end of July. It is squaring the Sun and Moon, and so expanding even further whatever may be emerging at this time. This is an extremely powerful time for the truth to surface into collective consciousness, especially after the perturbation of Pluto in Capricorn over the last few years, bringing up hidden things from the depths.

There are six planets in Mutable signs at the Lunar Eclipse; the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Gemini, the Moon in Sagittarius and Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces. This Mutability means we’re given an opportunity to deeply adapt and create new possibilities for ourselves and our communities. But it could also have the effect of destabilising, especially with Uranus in Taurus, and Taurus is linked to our sense of security. The foundations are cracking, and ofcourse on a positive note, that also leaves us freer to create new ones.

Mercury and Venus in Gemini being squared by Neptune conjunct Pallas in Pisces, brings more of this sense of vagueness and uncertainty, but can also help us employ the power of our imaginations to create pictures of the New World emerging now.

From May 27th, Mars in Cancer is starting to oppose Pluto now retrograde in Capricorn, and this opposition becomes exact on the 5th and 6th June. This can be extremely powerful and dynamic energy which can manifest as assertive, forceful power plays in the world, as well as within our personal relationships. Mars in Cancer can mean our wills are driven by our feelings and may increase our sense of emotional vulnerability.

Total lunar eclipses occur when Earth’s shadow briefly covers the face of a full moon, turning it a shade of crimson (hence the name "blood moon"). Total lunar eclipses, like solar eclipses, only happen a handful of times in a decade, and this time, Melbourne has some great front row seats to view it.

The eclipse will begin just before 7pm and will reach its maximum (when the moon is closest to the centre of the shadow) at 9.18pm before finishing at 11.49pm AEST.
