The Imdolc Full Moon in Aquarius
Imdolc Full Moon AEST 4 August 1:58am
Imbolc is a time which represents the half-way mark between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
It brings luck, fertility, fresh starts and new beginnings. When first looking at the Full Moon chart for this full moon I go where my interest takes me and move across and around the chart, taking note of relationships between planets and significant points and angles. Given the nature of Imbolc, I was intrigued to find that there is an exact Jupiter (in Capricorn) square to Mars (Aries), which I’ve always interpreted as the aspect of new beginnings, planting new seeds, conception, pregnancy and the beginnings of new enterprises or new directions within one’s current trajectory.
To Do
Plant the seeds of what you would like to cultivate in your life, by asking yourself ‘what seeds do I now want to sow for a new beginning?’
And just like when you plant seeds in your garden, you clear out all the weeds, and dead or dying matter, opening the space up for the new seeds, it’s a good idea to cleanse and clear a space in your own psyche so as to be available to these new seeds of intention.
You can literally clear out cupboards, drawers, storage units, your wardrobe or workspace, because working with the outer spaces will be reflected in your inner spaces.
You can meditate, dance, burn sage or whatever practice works for you to open up new space by clearing out what is no longer needed. Burn essential oils with warm spicy notes like clove, ginger, aniseed, clementine orange.
Lilith is also conjunct Mars, as she moves away from her conjunction to Chiron, signifying the ending for the time being of the profound and ongoing healing process being felt from the depths of many of our psyche’s; the wounds of having our sovereignty compromised, which can manifest as childhood trauma.
For the last eighteen months or more, we have all been confronted with the results of celebrities and renowned figures having their misdemeanours exposed, and this process has brought up many of our own experiences whether as proponents or perpetrators.
Mars conjunct Lilith in Aries will bring more to the surface, but now that we’ve moved out of the depths of the trapped energies of what we had to put into denial to survive, we can address the construction of healthy boundaries coupled with the ability to assert ourselves in healthy ways.
A new level of consciousness like this can be propelled along by the awakening revolutionary forces of Uranus. This Full Moon in Aquarius (ruled by Uranus) is square Uranus in Taurus, which is in the process of slowing down now to go retrograde from 16th August until the 14th January 2021. (When the slow-moving planets like this slow down, it really gives us a time-space to integrate what we might have had glimpses of when it first touched one of our own planets, points or angles.)
Uranus’ journey through Taurus is facilitating an awakening for Gaia, the re-setting of natural rhythms and forces, which we are all witnessing in the form of climate change with all its effects. But for us and our own trajectories and rhythms it is now necessary to attune ourselves to these bigger natural forces, and to align with our core Natures; Taurus is a fixed sign, so much has to be broken up for it to open up.
The pandemic is breaking up much in the way we’ve been conducting our economy, and so many of the values and philosophies which hold our systems in place, are now also being profoundly questioned and reviewed.
Saturn and Pluto are retrograde in Capricorn as well, so all our structures whether they are infrastructures or constructs we’ve created to live on planet Earth, are in question.
Stay safe and be well.
