The Age of Aquarius and the Aquarian New Moon ~ Supermoon

22nd January 2023 – 7:53am AEDT

A supermoon describes the Moon in its so-called perigee, which means the Moon is at its closest to the Earth in its elliptical orbit, so it is larger from our point of view. The New Moon is less dramatic visually than a Full Moon Supermoon, but still has a powerful influence on all things Earth. We know the Moon affects the tides; the average amount of water making up our bodies is 60%. This is the one astrological influence that I would call ‘causal’.

This Supermoon in Aquarius will further give us more of sense of the Aquarian Age we have been entering for the last sixty years or so, (based on the Precession of the Equinoxes read more here. ).

Aquarius, visionary, progressive and unorthodox, is a sign of the New Earth, the future, technology, humanitarian values being made a priority, an expanding awareness of the Universe and humanity. Some of you may know the words to that famous song from the musical ‘Hair’: The age of Aquarius. The sixties so-called Woodstock generation and ‘hippie’ revolution was when we first started to get a taste of the Aquarian age.

Aquarius’ co-rulers are Uranus (the planet of revolution and awakening) and Saturn, (the planet of constraint and practical reality.) Aquarius is not purely about change for change’s sake. It regards the constraints and limitations of practical reality with the greatest respect.

The planet Pluto is coming to the end of its run in Capricorn, which has been going on since November 2008. It will make its first foray into Aquarius in March this year, and then fully starts to inhabit Aquarius in January 2024.

This New Moon heralds the arrival of Pluto into Aquarius, as Pluto is in conjunction with it. This is a potent conjunction (even though Pluto is still in Capricorn). Pluto rules the collective, the zeitgeist.

We also have Saturn conjunct Venus in Aquarius, which will be felt in relationships, universal ones as well as personally significant ones.  There is often detachment in relationships with Aquarians, it is true that they are generally more universally orientated and don’t go so well in close or intimate relationships; but ofcourse like all living beings they like to get up close and experience the warmth that relationships bring. With Venus here, there is the opportunity to bring love and charm in the very infrastructure (Saturn) of your relationships.
