Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio.
16 May, AEST , 2:13pm
This Scorpio Full Moon is a total Lunar Eclipse, a blood Moon, and a Supermoon (means that on its elliptic pathway around the Earth, the Moon is at its closest) as well being a Scorpio moon which lends it extra visceral drama.
When I first looked at this chart what struck me was that it is a so-called ‘bucket’ formation, which means that most of the planets and bodies are concentrated on one side of the sphere, while the Moon and South Node opposing that group, like the ‘handle’ of the Bucket.
Bucket charts are very often quite intense, as all the combined energies of the group are reliant on the ‘handle’, in this case, the deep watery Scorpio Moon. Energies can be quite extreme and polarised at a time like this.
The other important pattern here is the fact that the Sun and Moon are square to Saturn and Vesta (an asteroid, associated with sacrifice). Scorpio and Taurus are about our deeper feelings. Taurus is about our values and what makes us feel loved. Scorpio, the deeper enquiry into our inner worlds, with the possibility of excavating and transforming ourselves. Saturn squaring the Full Moon means that there's a certain amount constraint around this process, and caution and circumspection are advised as there are lessons to be learned, and Mercury retrograde, will require you to look closely and review everything before making any major decisions.
This Lunar Eclipse is part of the Eclipse cycle we are currently experiencing; the Solar eclipse was at the New Moon two weeks ago. The Eclipse cycles represent several months when a lot is going on, disruptions and a shattering of the status quo, things that you thought you could take for granted are suddenly falling apart. Having Uranus in a wide conjunction to the Sun in Taurus contributes further to this destabilising.
The ruling planet of Taurus, Venus, is in Aries and conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer. We're all being faced with the seemingly unhealable wound of war, this horrendous situation in Ukraine. Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries is showing us this profound unhealable wound that we continue with as a species.
Chiron became the great healer because of his unhealable wound. Hopefully the salve of Jupiter still in its conjunction to Neptune can bring more compassion and spirituality to the fore for this horrendous and sorrowful situation.
Even though the conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune is widening, we are still within this influence.
And at this powerful Lunar Eclipse time, Jupiter is at zero degrees of Aries, which is a very important degree in any sign but especially in the cardinal signs, and especially in Aries.
It is the beginning of a whole new twelve year cycle, (it takes Jupiter twelve years to get right around the zodiac). And in zero degrees of Aries, also known as the Cardinal Point; a new idealistic opening of possibilities is available. It is a sort of a portal through which Universal energy flows into the Samsara of our everyday lives. Mars is in Pisces as well, conjunct Neptune, it’s time to put our ideals into action. A more subterranean nuanced action on a soul level will be more effective, than the direct action Mars usually prefers.
Mars conjunct Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces are inspirational, a beautiful mystical conjunction, working on the subliminal, penetrating the deeper layers of our beings and our Living Planet.
