Cancer New Moon ~ Annular Solar Eclipse

(The New Moon Eclipse is at 4:42pm 21st June, it is an Annular Solar Eclipse which happens when the Moon covers the Sun's center, leaving the Sun's visible outer edges to form a ‘ring of fire’ or annulus around the Moon.)

In the early days before astrologers understood the astronomy side of things, they would interpret the ‘ring of fire’ to mean that end-times had arrived.

This is the first of two Cancer New Moon’s, and we are in the midst of an eclipse cycle, with the next Full Moon being a Penumbral Eclipse on 5th July.

Not only is there the eclipse cycle we’re in the midst of, but this annular eclipse is happening on the Solstice, so if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere it is the Winter Solstice. The Sun and Moon are conjunct at 0º degrees of Cancer, the so-called ‘Cardinal Point’, which is in aspect to the entry point of Universal life-force.

In a way we are in ‘end times’, an end of the time we might call ‘business as usual’. Covid has brought us into ourselves, forcing us to pause and look deeply into our earth walk, as if through the eyes of the Universe and the big picture.

Our systems kept hyped-up on altered states of consciousness driven by our programming, substances, and our addiction to the endless pursuit for more and more and more. This is not the way nature works! But we are so disconnected from nature now, that we wouldn’t know.

I’ve seen endless posts and everyone I am in contact with does not want things to return to the way they were. We were all exhausted from the relentless pace on the rat-wheel, exploiting each other, ourselves, our resources, and our own integrity to the limits. We want a new kind of existence on Earth. The trajectory which emerged in the early sixties with Woodstock and flower power, now has wheels and we are experiencing more signs that we are entering into  the Aquarian age.

Exhale…

This beautiful Cancer ‘cocoon’, with Mercury just going retrograde, is set between two Cancer new moons (next one is July 21st) and is our opportunity to bring ourselves back in touch with our own natural rhythms, affirmed also by the deeper relationships we have found to our inner selves and within our families and communities during lock-down.

We’re all in this together, there is nowhere to go to pretend it isn’t happening. We have to show up and admit, allow in, what is true and real. We can act on our ideals now with the Mars/Neptune conjunction, we can look at the extremes of our lives with the Pluto/Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn. All those things which give us the illusion we’re separate from each other and all of nature are unravelling.

And now we must gauge our own barometers for what feels true for us, and trust that.

This New Moon is conjunct the Dragon’s Head, (North Node) which has very recently travelled into Gemini, allowing us to breathe into the separation, grief, pain, sorrow, anger…whatever emotions are arising from the massive Soul work, cellular memories, ancestral baggage, as we face up to the deeply buried issues which we may not have been ready to know about before.

The Cancer bubble, with its retrograde Mercury is an ideal time to listen deeply to the collective transformational forces that are at work as we unravel the old world and take conscious steps into the new world, unhindered by all the clutter of unspoken, unfelt wounds and the scars of the embattled species that we are all part of, and which now has the opportunity to enter into a very different state of consciousness.
